Gospel singer and producer Verese Vassell-Bowen is set to uplift and inspire as she takes the stage for a special Black Heritage Month performance in Guelph. Known for blending gospel with a variety of musical styles, she will be joined by her band for an evening of soul-stirring music.

The concert, part of the Fourth Friday series, will take place at the Guelph Civic Museum (52 Norfolk St.) on February 28 at 7 p.m. As a bonus, visitors can explore the museum’s exhibitions for free from 5 to 9 p.m.

Music as a Unifying Force

For Vassell-Bowen, music is more than entertainment—it’s a bridge that connects people, offering comfort and joy in uncertain times.

“This month, this year, I’m reflecting on Black heritage, but also on where we are as a world and how we can move forward,” she shared.

A Song of Strength

She credits music as a powerful healing force, helping people find resilience in difficult moments. One song that continues to resonate deeply with her is Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.”

“It’s a song that brings me strength and peace,” she said. “And I love sharing that feeling with others.”

Spoiler alert—audiences can expect to hear her rendition of the iconic anthem during her performance.

With her powerful voice and heartfelt message, Vassell-Bowen’s show promises to be a celebration of heritage, unity, and the enduring power of music.
