The Guelph Sports Hall of Fame is thrilled to announce that Simoni Lawrence, a revered former CFL All-star linebacker, will be attending the 2024 Kiwanis Sports Celebrity Dinner and Induction Ceremony. The event is set to honor Lawrence among other notable figures in the sports community.

A Storied Career

Simoni Lawrence, originally from Upper Darby, PA, has left an indelible mark on the Canadian Football League during his 11-season tenure. With a career that spanned from 2012 with Edmonton to 2023 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Lawrence has been celebrated for his exceptional skill and sportsmanship on the field.

Record-Breaking Achievements

  • Franchise Leader: Lawrence holds the Tiger-Cats’ records for total tackles (734), defensive tackles (727), and single-game tackles (17).
  • CFL Rankings: His career defensive tackles total of 742 places him 10th in CFL history.
  • Awards and Honors: Lawrence is a three-time CFL All-Star (2015, 2019, 2021), a five-time CFL East Division All-Star (2014-2016, 2019, 2021), and was thrice nominated as the East Division’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player (2015, 2019, 2021).
