Hey, Guelph—ready to flex your vocabulary muscles? Whether you’re eager to “highjack a schmaltzy quetzal” or “wheeze through a quixotic jukebox,” the Rotary Club of Guelph South has the perfect event for you!

On Saturday, April 12, the club is hosting a Scrabble party at the Guelph Royal Canadian Legion (57 Watson Parkway South) from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Whether you’re a seasoned wordsmith or a beginner, this event promises fun for all—and it’s for a great cause.

A Scrabble Game with Heart

In partnership with The Children’s Foundation Keep Kids Fed at Home and Guelph GoGo Grandmothers (Stephen Lewis Foundation), the event will raise funds for both local and global initiatives.

Rotarian Celia Clark shared that the event is a perfect mix of friendly competition and community spirit. “It’s for anyone who enjoys playing Scrabble or anyone who wants to try playing in a fun, collaborative setting,” she said.

A Team Effort

Forget the cutthroat solo competition; this tournament is all about teamwork. Players will join tables of four, working together to rack up the highest score as a group. With over 40 game boards and all the tiles you could need, it’s a collaborative, high-energy atmosphere where strategy and camaraderie reign supreme.

You won’t be competing with the players at your table—instead, you’re all aiming to get the maximum possible score for your group by claiming those all-important double and triple word scores. As Clark explained, “That’s where the teamwork comes in—making it even more fun!”

Prizes Galore!

There’s more than just pride on the line. There will be prizes for the best team name, the highest-scoring team, and a door prize for a lucky attendee.

Get Involved

For just $25 per player, you’ll enjoy a fun-filled afternoon, engage with the local community, and help support two amazing causes. So, if you love word games and want to give back, this event is your chance to do both.

Grab your tiles, round up your team, and get ready for a game that’s both FUN and full of purpose!
