The Better is Possible campaign by the organization garnered $2.54 million in funds, coming close to the previous year’s achievement of $2.6 million. In conjunction with the Home for Good Campaign, conducted in partnership with the Guelph Community Foundation, the United Way successfully amassed a grand total of $3.15 million.

Ray Stultz, the campaign chair, expressed gratitude in a news release, attributing the accomplishment to the dedication of hundreds of volunteers and the generous support of the entire community.

For the 2023 campaign, no specific fundraising target was set. Glenna Banda, the executive director of UWGWD, acknowledged the challenges faced in fundraising over the past year.

“While we are immensely thankful for the community’s contributions and the impact we will make in the upcoming year,” Banda stated, “it’s important to acknowledge that we fell short of our initial aspirations.”

Banda highlighted the shared difficulties experienced by various charitable organizations, including not only fundraising hurdles but also increased supply costs and a shortage of volunteers.

The funds raised will be allocated to support collaborative initiatives aimed at addressing critical issues such as poverty, mental health, and homelessness.

According to the United Way news release, the total donations encompass both received and pledged amounts. The campaign engaged over 125 workplaces, with more than 4,100 donors contributing to the United Way’s annual efforts.
