More than 20 local community organizations are receiving a financial boost thanks to the Rotary Club of Guelph Trillium. The club recently distributed over $37,000 in grant funding, raised through its two flagship fundraisers: Ribfest and Tour de Guelph.
In total, 23 local groups will benefit from the grants, which aim to support programs that strengthen the Guelph community—from youth services and education initiatives to health, arts, and social supports.
Driven by Community—and Ribs
The Rotary Club of Guelph Trillium, made up of around 50 members from diverse professional backgrounds, has become a staple of local philanthropy. Its largest event, Ribfest, draws thousands of attendees each August to Riverside Park, with proceeds going directly to these community grants.
Jon Macklin, the current president, and Dr. Phil McAllister, the president-elect, are among those leading the club’s efforts to turn barbecued ribs and cycling routes into tangible community impact.
“It’s not just about fundraising,” said one member. “It’s about feeding the spirit of the community—sometimes quite literally.”
A Tradition of Giving
The Rotary Club has long held to the principle of “Service Above Self,” and this year’s grant recipients reflect a cross-section of causes. From grassroots nonprofits to established service providers, the grants offer a crucial helping hand to organizations working on the front lines of community wellbeing.
As the club continues planning for this summer’s Ribfest, Guelph residents can rest assured: every rack of ribs served and every bike pedal pushed brings the city one step closer to a stronger, more connected future.
