This weekend, one special tree in Guelph’s Woodlawn Memorial Park will receive some extra attention. A mature black walnut (Juglans nigra), believed to have been planted long before the cemetery itself, will undergo essential care. The tree’s unique history suggests it may have been planted by a squirrel, as the Guelph Tree Trust pointed out in their recent press release.
To ensure this legacy tree continues to thrive, a team of expert arborists, led by Doug Steel from Full Circle Tree Care, will be climbing to new heights on Saturday, April 12. The team will be performing essential maintenance and care from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Guelph Tree Trust is inviting the public to join in this special event. Visitors are encouraged to bring binoculars to observe the work being done on this impressive tree. It’s a unique opportunity to witness firsthand the dedication and expertise that go into preserving these living landmarks.
