A Guelph man is facing more than 25 charges after being arrested while driving a stolen vehicle.
The Guelph Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police’s Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad collaborated to locate and arrest the man at a Kitchener residence. Police said he was under investigation and driving a stolen black Audi A7 with fake licence plates.
The vehicle, reported stolen from Waterloo Region earlier in the month, contained a homemade Taser, a switchblade knife, suspected crystal methamphetamine, and a stolen credit card.
The 39-year-old suspect faces multiple charges, including motor vehicle theft, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of a prohibited weapon, resisting arrest, drug possession, and breaching court orders.
Police also linked the suspect to an earlier incident on October 28, when two men in a stolen white Audi Q3 broke into a Guelph business. They stole keys to a 2017 Cadillac and fled with both vehicles. The white Audi was later involved in two gas thefts in Guelph before being recovered in Waterloo Region, where it was confirmed as stolen from Fergus.
