
A 68-year-old man from Guelph is facing multiple charges following an incident involving impaired driving and an altercation with law enforcement.
According to Guelph police, the incident occurred late Thursday evening when officers responded to reports of a possible impaired driver in the city’s west end. Upon locating the vehicle and conducting a routine stop, officers determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
During the interaction, the man allegedly became combative, leading to charges of assaulting a police officer. No officers were seriously injured in the confrontation.
The man has been charged with impaired driving, assaulting a peace officer, and resisting arrest. He is expected to appear in court later this month.
Police are reminding the public of the dangers of impaired driving and urging citizens to call 911 if they suspect someone is driving under the influence.
