The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) has unveiled its revamped Lucky Paws 50/50 Lottery (RAF1375301) on April 1st. This year, GHS guarantees a minimum grand prize of $5,000 (and counting) for the fortunate winner. Additionally, there are five early bird draws of $500 each, with a bonus $200 prize pack from Dogtopia in week five.

The funds raised from this initiative will go directly towards aiding abandoned animals in Guelph and Wellington County. Jane Dawkins, the GHS director of communications and community engagement, expressed, “The GHS Lucky Paws Lottery is a delightful way to engage the community in supporting animals that are in dire need of help.” She continued, “Every dollar we raise from the lottery contributes to providing hope, care, and compassion to these animals who come to us seeking refuge.”

The proceeds will be utilized for essentials such as food, primary and advanced veterinary care, medications, and, most importantly, abundant love and attention for the approximately 100 animals currently awaiting adoption at GHS.

Moreover, the funds will support GHS Cares programs like emergency boarding, Pets in Transition (a program aiding those escaping domestic violence or requiring mental health and addiction support), and complimentary short-term boarding for pets of seniors needing hospitalization.

Tickets for the Lucky Paws Lottery are now available, starting as low as $10, with the best value offered at 750 tickets for $75. The early bird draws will take place every Friday, commencing on April 12 and running until May 10.

Winners of the early bird draws will have an additional chance to win the grand prize, which will be drawn on Friday, May 17th. The lucky ticket holder will take home half of the total jackpot.

“We are thrilled to reintroduce the GHS lottery to our supporters with this refreshed look,” said Dawkins. “For those who cherish animals, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss out on.”
