Alternative, indie, and folk music fans in Guelph have a must-see event coming their way next month. Juno Award-winning Oji-Cree artist Aysanabee (pronounced Ace-in-abbey) is set to perform at Sonic Hall on Wednesday, March 19, as part of his “Now and Then” tour.

Although this is being billed as his first headlining tour, Aysanabee has already spent years performing across Canada and beyond, playing everything from major festivals to intimate bar gigs. However, this tour is a milestone—one where he has full creative control over the experience.

“I’m excited to get back on the road, but it’s also my first headline tour,” he shared.

Aysanabee, originally from Sandy Lake First Nation, has played in the Guelph area before, including solo acoustic sets at Hillside Festival. This time, however, he’s bringing his full band for a performance that promises to be bigger and more dynamic.

“Aside from Hillside, I’ve been in the Guelph area a few times, but always solo acoustic,” he said. “This is going to be the first time I’m bringing the band to a venue there.”

The “Now and Then” tour title is a nod to his album “Here and Now,” but fans can expect a mix of songs from both past releases and brand-new material.

For those looking to experience Aysanabee’s unique blend of storytelling and soul-stirring melodies, this show is not one to miss.
