Acton Driver Racks Up Charges After Ignoring Police Warning

A 19-year-old driver from Acton is facing a long list of charges after defying police instructions and returning to the road with an unsafe commercial vehicle in Puslinch Township.

Wellington County OPP said the incident began around 11 a.m. Monday, when officers conducting traffic enforcement along Highway 401 stopped a commercial vehicle at the ONroute in Puslinch. The vehicle was found to have multiple safety violations, including:

  • Unsecured load

  • Defective braking system

  • Missing inspection sticker or proof

  • Failure to produce a completed daily inspection report

The driver was also warned for having improper tires and operating a vehicle with a major defect.

Police instructed the driver not to move the trailer due to serious safety concerns. However, shortly afterward, the same vehicle was spotted back on the road and was stopped again by officers on Townline Road.

This second stop resulted in even more charges, including:

  • Driving a commercial vehicle contrary to a police prohibition

  • Drawing a trailer with no plate

  • Repeated issues with unsecured load, defective brakes, and improper tires

  • Multiple inspection-related violations

The driver is scheduled to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
